ATTENTION 7TH GRADE PARENTS

We are in the process of how many chaperones

we will be able to take on the trip.

Those that expressed an interest in chaperoning on the trip

received a letter that needs to be handed back in

to Mrs. Bishop or Mrs. Vajda by April 25.

Letters were given to your child to take home.

Washington, D.C. October 31-November 3, 2017

After a full year of preparation, the 8th grade class at Edison Middle School loaded the busses on Tuesday night, October 31st for their trip to Washington, D.C.  Students and chaperones alike, visited many sites and learned much about the history and government of our nation.  Highlights of the trip included a walking tour of the many monuments and memorials, a visit to Mount Vernon to tour Washington’s home, and time spent at the Newseum, where students learned the role the media has played in reporting historical events as well as how our First Amendment is vital to our society.  Additionally, the trip included an emotional tour of the Holocaust Museum, as well as a visit to Arlington National Ceremony to witness the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.  While there, four of our EMS students participated in a wreath laying ceremony at the Tomb, allowing our school to pay respect to the many men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice in creating and defending our nation.  On the trip back to Ohio, the busses stopped in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania for a guided tour of the battlefield that served as a turning point of the Civil War.  It truly was a memorable trip for all and hopefully just one of many opportunities our students will have to travel and learn about their nation.
